Acting responsibly as a tour operator is at the core of our business. We believe our small-group tours and self-guided trips make a positive contribution to the communities they visit.

We do this by using wherever possible smaller accommodations that are owned and run by local people. These business in turn spend more of their revenue locally, for example buying locally-produced food which has a lower carbon footprint and in turn supports the community. We also use public transportation where possible, avoiding tour buses and lessening our envrionmental impact.

Thirdly, we try to avoid the destinations that cater to mass-market tourism, taking our guests to the lesser-known but equally (if not more) rewarding places that larger tour companies tend to avoid due to their unsuitability for large groups.

This means that your tourist Yen will end up more than often than not in a small community that may have little in the way of work for its young people.
