Cycling adventures

Cycling offers a unique way to see Japan at street level. Ride down the narrow city streets of Kyoto to the see its temples and gardens, pedal along country lanes past locals busy in their rice fields, feel the salt air on scenic coastal roads, and enjoy quiet mountain roads past small shrines and villages hidden away from those travelling by train or car.

We use traditional inns and guesthouses in the countryside run by local families with a warm personal service. At the end of the day you will relax in a natural hot spring bath and feast on beautifully-prepared meals of fresh local ingredients. We lighten the load by carrying your luggage in our support van.

Our itineraries are carefully selected to combine the rich heritage of Japanese history and culture with an exploration of the quieter backroads and villages - places that have not been developed for commercial tourism. By keeping the group small and using cycling as our means of transport, we also lessen our impact.

Each tour is lead by a qualified Japanese-speaking tour leader and bilingual . We work with local Japanese guides to enhance the experience through their local knowledge of certain regions.

Trip comments:
We saw more places and met more people on our trip than we ever dreamed. Rural Japan, hot springs resorts, cute little towns and bustling megapolises alternated with a kaleidoscopic exuberance.
Thank you again for the well organized trip, divers itinerary and your thoughtful support!
