Our trips to Armenia blend the best of an ancient country at the heart of one of the oldest civilisations between Asia and Europe. With its strong Christian heritage much evident in the stone churches that dot the countryside, a starkly humbling landscape, and an infectious cameraderie amongst its people, Armenia is an undiscovered jewel.

The Armenia Discovery trip combines walks and short hikes in some of the most evocative corners of the country, with the best of the country's historical and cultural monuments. Our Best of Armenia trip is a non-walking tour visiting Armenia's most reknowned monasteries and churches, museums and introducing you to the beauty of its landscape.

Each trip is lead by a qualified British guide together with a local Armenian hiking guide/interpeter with decades of experience, and starts and finishes at the international airport in Yerevan, Armenia's capital. Accommodation consists of hotels in the towns and cities and camping in the remoter areas. All meals are provided fresh from the areas we travel through, and you will enjoy some of the best of Armenian cuisine, such as traditionally-made lavash bread, delicious organic fruit and vegetables, traditonal lamb and beef barbecues called khorovats, home-made yogurt, and dolma, stuffed vine leaves.

For some background information on the history and culture of Armenia, see our Armenia resources page, and for practical information on our trips please see our practical information page.

Our favourite Armenia experiences:

1. Sipping strong Armenian coffee in an open-air cafe in one of Yerevan's parks
2. Eating fresh lavash (unleavened bread) with coriander, goats cheese, organic tomatoes
3. Sitting high above the Vorotan gorge with Tatev monastery below
4. Wandering through the Vernissage, Yerevan's lively crafts market
5. Listening to the soulful duduk (a traditonal woodwind instrument made of apricot wood)
